My clients came to me for their ten-year anniversary seeking a couple’s tattoo, and they gave me free rein with unlimited placement options. They shared stories about their life together, their relationship, and the things that mattered most to them, which helped shape the concept. I wanted to design something that functioned as a complete, standalone tattoo on each person, yet transformed into a new, unified image when joined. I created a tree of life with the seed of life at its center; the tree wraps around each of their arms and reads as finished on its own, but when they stand together and hold hands the branches and roots interlock and the design takes on a fresh, shared meaning.
